Why this page exists
Nobody reads terms of service. So here is the whole thing in one page, in normal words. The long versions are the terms and the privacy policy, and every section here links to the part it came from.
You have to be 13
np-studylab is for people 13 and older. When you sign up you check a box saying you are. If you are under 13 you cannot have an account here.
What we know about you
Your email address, your real name, your display name, the year you were born, your time zone, and your photo if you add one. Then the things you do in the app: your group, your messages, your RSVPs, your reading marks, and your reminder settings.
That is the whole list. There is a table of it in the privacy policy.
What we do not do
We do not sell anything about you. We do not show ads. We do not track you on other websites. Nothing you post here is on the open internet, and nobody sees it without signing in.
One thing works differently, and you are the one who turns it on. If you ask for a calendar link or a Shortcuts link on the Me screen, that link is a secret web address with no sign in on it, so anyone you send it to can see your group's event times and places. Only share one with someone you trust, and switch it off from Me if you change your mind.
Who sees your name
Other members see your display name and a small picture. That is it, unless you change your settings.
Your leaders see your real name, your photo, and who invited you. They need that to run a group where most people are under 18. There are no private messages in np-studylab at all, so nobody can message you one to one.

How long things stay
Chat messages disappear after 90 days, unless your leaders picked a different window for your group, so ask them if you want to know exactly. Anything you delete is gone from view straight away and gone for good after 30 days. If you delete your account, you have 30 days to change your mind, and after that your profile, your photos, and your messages are removed.
The one exception: if someone reports a message, that message is kept until a leader has dealt with the report, even if your group's window runs out. The full table is in how long we keep it.
How to get your stuff, or leave
Go to Me. There is a button to download everything you have written, and a button to delete your account. You can also leave a single group from the group screen, and choose whether your messages go with you.

The rules, honestly
Be kind. Do not post anything sexual, do not bully anyone, do not post a photo of someone who did not say yes, and do not take anything from inside a group and put it somewhere else. Do not pretend to be someone you are not.
Leaders can delete a message, mute you, or remove you from the group. Serious things get an account closed. The full list is in the rules.
If something goes wrong
Report it. There is a report option on every message and every profile, and it goes to your leaders and to the person who runs np-studylab. Reports about a leader go straight to us instead, and the person you reported never learns it was you.

If this changes
When we change the terms or the privacy policy in a way that matters, np-studylab asks you to read and agree again the next time you open it. You can always say no and delete your account instead.
